Back to School; Getting Organised
It’s Back to School already so what is your Revision strategy this year?
S-cool have been working hard over the summer to help get you on track and make a revision plan.
Making a revision plan early will help you make sure that you have amble time to cover all subjects. GCSE students know that there are usually 8-12 subjects to revise, which equates to three months of revision.
Ask your teacher for the exam dates or you can search online through the Interboard Examination Timetable.
Divide the number of days you have until the exam by the number of topics that you will need to revise. Now you can use S-cool Timetable Organiser to mark out your routine. Break each topic down into smaller chunks of 20 or 30 minutes. Mark your exam dates and ‘must do’ items such as school time, lessons, lunches and breaks.
Revision Timetable
Create a revision plan either using an online revision timetable or print off an enlarged version that you can stick onto your wall. This way, you can add notes to it and get an instant big picture overview of your timetable at any time.
Time and Focus spent on each subject
Consider how much time you need to spend on each subject as this can have a bearing on your revision timetable. Some subjects need more attention than others and you may need to spend more time focusing on the subjects that you find difficult.
Chart Your Progress
Keep on top of which subjects you need to work on. A good gage is using past revision papers in each subject so that you can chart your progress and improvement.
Layering your revision
One approach could be the timing of the subject revision – a practical layering of information can have a knock on effect. For example revising Maths first will help with subjects such as Physics, Business Studies and Economics. English revision early on in a planned schedule may be useful when it comes to essay based subjects like Politics, History or Religious studies.
